Description

The Mainline Submarine Hose with Collars is a critical component in offshore oil and gas transfer systems, designed for use in submerged environments. These hoses are used in floating hose strings, connecting Single Point Mooring (SPM) systems to subsea pipelines. The collars ensure proper support and connection in submerged environments, making the hose suitable for high-pressure and deep-sea applications.

1. Construction

  • Inner Liner: Made from oil-resistant synthetic rubber or composite materials to withstand crude oil, refined petroleum products, and other petrochemicals.
  • Reinforcement Layers: High-tensile synthetic fiber or steel wire is used for reinforcement, providing strength, flexibility, and durability. The layers help the hose withstand high internal pressures and external forces.
  • Outer Cover: Constructed with abrasion-resistant synthetic rubber, offering excellent protection against environmental factors like seawater, corrosion, and rough surfaces on the seabed.
  • Collars: Equipped with steel or rubber collars at intervals along the hose, ensuring stability and support in submerged conditions. These collars are designed to add weight, which helps maintain the hose’s position below the water surface.

2. Collars Function

  • Weight and Stability: The collars ensure the hose remains submerged at the required depth, preventing excessive movement caused by currents or waves.
  • Connection Points: These collars also serve as reinforcement points for securely connecting to mooring systems, floating buoys, or subsea manifolds.

3. Standard Sizes

  • Inner Diameter: Commonly available in diameters ranging from 6 inches (150mm) to 24 inches (600mm), depending on the application.
  • Length: Typically supplied in 12-meter lengths, though custom sizes are available to suit specific operational needs.

4. Working Pressure

  • Designed for high-pressure applications with a working pressure typically between 15 to 21 bars (220 to 305 psi), ensuring reliable performance in deep-sea conditions.

5. Temperature Range

  • Operates efficiently in a wide temperature range from -20°C to 80°C, making it suitable for various climates and underwater environments.

6. End Fittings

  • Equipped with flanged or swivel-type end connections made from corrosion-resistant materials like stainless steel or galvanized metal. These fittings ensure a secure connection between the hose and the subsea pipelines, buoys, or mooring systems.
  • The fittings are generally compliant with OCIMF standards, ensuring safety and compatibility with marine oil transfer systems.

7. Performance Characteristics

  • Tensile Strength: The hose is designed to withstand significant tensile forces during offshore oil transfer operations, especially in submerged conditions where forces can vary due to water currents.
  • Flexibility: Despite the reinforcement and collar system, the hose maintains flexibility, allowing it to adapt to the movement of waves and underwater currents.
  • Buoyancy Control: With collars, the hose achieves neutral or slightly negative buoyancy, ensuring it stays submerged at the correct depth without floating or sinking excessively.
  • Abrasion Resistance: The outer cover protects the hose from damage caused by contact with rough seabed surfaces, rocks, or marine life.

8. Applications

  • Used primarily in offshore oil transfer systems, such as Single Point Mooring (SPM) systems.
  • Suitable for submerged hose strings connecting floating buoys to subsea pipelines for transferring crude oil or refined products.
  • Ideal for deep-sea operations where maintaining hose stability and position is critical.
