Description

The Reducer Floating Hose is specifically designed for offshore oil transfer operations where there is a need to connect pipelines or hoses of different diameters. This type of hose is essential for ensuring smooth transitions between varying sizes while maintaining buoyancy, flexibility, and durability in marine environments.

1. Construction

  • Inner Liner: Oil-resistant synthetic rubber or composite materials that are designed to handle crude oil, refined petroleum products, and other petrochemicals without degrading.
  • Reinforcement Layers: Made with high-tensile synthetic fibers or steel wire, providing strength and flexibility. The number of layers varies depending on pressure ratings and intended use.
  • Outer Cover: Abrasion-resistant synthetic rubber with added UV protection, protecting the hose from environmental damage such as sun exposure, seawater, and physical wear.

2. Reducer Function

  • The hose has varying diameters at each end to facilitate connections between pipes or hoses of different sizes, ensuring smooth transitions in oil or gas transfer operations.
  • Common diameter transitions are available, e.g., from 16 inches to 12 inches (400mm to 300mm), though custom transitions can be produced to fit specific systems.

3. Floating Layer

  • Equipped with a floating layer made of closed-cell foam or other buoyant materials, ensuring the hose remains afloat during marine operations even in case of damage.
  • The floating section ensures ease of handling and positioning in offshore environments.

4. Standard Sizes

  • Inner Diameter: Available in various diameters with a transition between two sizes, typically ranging from 6 inches (150mm) to 24 inches (600mm), depending on system requirements.
  • Length: Usually supplied in lengths of around 12 meters, though different lengths can be customized to meet specific operational needs.

5. Working Pressure

  • Designed to withstand pressures between 10 to 20 bars (145 to 290 psi), depending on the size and operational environment. Specially reinforced areas ensure consistent performance under high pressure.

6. Temperature Range

  • The hose is capable of withstanding temperatures from -20°C to 80°C, making it suitable for use in a variety of offshore climates and conditions.

7. End Fittings

  • Supplied with corrosion-resistant flanged or swivel-type fittings, compatible with industry standards and designed for easy and secure connections between different systems.
  • Typically compliant with OCIMF (Oil Companies International Marine Forum) standards for offshore oil transfer operations.

8. Performance Characteristics

  • Tensile Strength: Built to handle the significant tensile loads that may arise in offshore mooring or oil transfer, particularly at the connection points where stress is highest.
  • Buoyancy: The hose is engineered to maintain positive buoyancy, even in harsh conditions, ensuring ease of operation and reducing the risk of submersion.
  • Abrasion Resistance: The outer cover is designed to protect the hose from rough handling, contact with ship decks, buoys, or other equipment.
  • Flexibility: The hose is flexible enough to adapt to wave motion and dynamic sea conditions, ensuring continuous operation without damage.

9. Applications

  • Used in floating hose strings for Single Point Mooring (SPM) or Conventional Buoy Mooring (CBM) systems.
  • Ideal for offshore oil and gas transfer operations where a diameter reduction is needed between different hoses or pipeline systems.

10. Certifications

The manufacturer of the products supplied by Precision Hoses Pty Ltd is certified under the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System, ensuring a consistent commitment to quality.
